Intel plans to spin his engine network and Edge Group as part of an ongoing business -covering effort to increase profitability.
The news was confirmed in an internal memo seen by CrnAuthor of Sachin Katti, who has had a number of roles in Intel’s network and edge group (NEX), including SVP, GM and CTO.
Although NEX will be spun off, Intel is set to remain a key investor similar to its previous approach with altera. Of course, this is if Intel is successful in finding a buyer.
Intel will spin his network and edge group
A spokesman for Intel confirmed (via Crn): “We plan to establish key elements in our networking and communication activities as an independent company … as an altera, we will remain an anchor investor that allows us to take advantage of future upside when we place the company for future growth.”
However, the company remains in the early stages of identifying potential investors.
In 2024, NEX generated about $ 5.8 billion in revenue for Intel, about 11% of the company’s $ 53.1 billion in the total annual revenue.
The move is the drastic action developments of the latet, led by New Intel CEO LIP-BU TAN, which promised big changes when he came aboard earlier in 2025.
“Intel was once widely seen as the world’s most innovative company. There is no reason why we can’t get back there as long as we run the changes needed to get better,” Tan shared with colleagues in April 2025.
Although most of the changes highlighted in TANS MEMO to the workers centered on human discharges, a return-to-office and streamlined processes with fewer unnecessary meetings-have also made changes to the company itself.
Nevertheless, with this news, which comes a few days after we were told that Intel would further reduce its number of employees, it marks an important milestone in Intel’s history and one that the workers will be aware of.
