Karachi: Former Pakistan Cricket team captain Inzamam-Ul-Haq hit back on the former legendary cricketer in India, Sunil Gavaskar, over his recent comments on Green Shirts’ disappointing campaign on the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.
In an interview, Gavaskar had stated that Pakistan’s current team is not strong enough to meet India’s B team.
“I think even India’s B -Team would give Pakistan a tough challenge. It would be very difficult for Pakistan’s current team to beat them, ”noted Gavaskar.
Sunil Gavaskar’s remarks certainly did not sit well with Inzamam-Ul-Haq, who warned the legendary dough to use his words carefully in a ‘slightly hard’ tone.
“Gavaskar Sahab was to see statistics. He’s older and senior; we respect him. But when we talk about anyone’s land […] Your team has played well. You have the right to praise your team. But that is not true to say about another team like this. Be careful with your words, I’ll say this in a slightly tough tone, “the former cricketer said.
Gavaskar also pointed out the lack of intention from Pakistan’s fighters.
“Mohammad Rizwan hit the first ball in his laps for a four, and I thought we were in for something else. However, the fighters soon began to block deliveries instead of rotating the strike. The Indian spinners ended their overs quickly, and it was surprising that Pakistan’s fighters showed no urgent character, ”he said.
Gavaskar also criticized Pakistan’s failure to develop bench strength over the years.
“Pakistan has talented players, but they have not been able to build a strong backup. It is surprising that they have struggled to make fighters like Inzamam-Ul-Haq. Pakistan Super League (PSL) is played domestic, yet it has not given enough fighters of high quality, ”he said.
