iOS 26.1 should make it harder to sleep through your alarms

  • The second iOS 26.1 Beta is out now
  • It includes a redesigned alarm screen that requires a weld to turn off alarms
  • Other changes include custom training and a shift to automatically downloading security improvements

It’s never fun to be missing an alarm, and with iOS 26.1 update, it seems that Apple will reduce the chances of doing so.

The second iOS 26.1 Beta is out now, and macumors have found that – among other things – it changes the design on the alarm screen, so that rather than just having to press a button to turn off the alarm, iron over the screen.

It is a change that should mean that you need to be more awake to actually turn off the alarm, and that also means you don’t accidentally turn it off if you just wanted to snooze it (the action that was and remains a simple tap).

The same slide-to-stop design is also used by timers in iOS 26.1 Beta 2-it is probably less necessary there, but can still come along well and keep the interface consistent.
