- iOS 26 Beta 6 are out after developers
- There are changes in liquid glass and camera app
- There are also 7 new ringtones
Apple continues to push beta updates to its iOS 26 software ahead of a full launch later in the year, and the latest Beta 6 version for developers brings a number of interesting adjustments -including one I am especially eager to try.
As reported by TechCrunch and others, iOS is 26 snappers than ever, with app launch and changing noticeably faster – a sure sign that Apple continues to optimize the software before rolling out to millions of iPhones.
There are also several adjustments to liquid glass here (via Macumors), with more transparency on the lock screen, and a more 3D look for the lock screen. Apple also seems to have done more work to improve textualability with the liquid glaze effect.
Apple has also brought back the previous swipe direction for states on the camera arm, so it’s a lot as you were with it -a few betas ago turned the swipe direction for some unknown reason, which messed up muscle memory for the majority of users.
Added ringtones

There is also a new and improved onboarding process for users here that will help explain all changes when iOS 26 rolls out to the masses (probably in September, with the iPhone 17 series). Note, however, that this is the developer’s beta and you will not see these changes yet if you are in the public beta program.
However, what I am most excited about are the seven new ringtones that Apple has added, giving you even more choices for inbound calls. In addition to some neat variations on the standard reign ringtone, there is also a brand new called Little Bird.
I have already given it a listening and it is a merry number that blends synth and whistling sounds to an interesting effect. I also like the new reflection takes, which sounds well known, but which each has a fresh new sound layered on top.
I might open myself to ridicule by getting excited about new ringtones, but these are sounds I hear every day and new ones are always welcome – it’s actually been a few years now since Apple treated us with new variations.
