- IOS 26 Public Beta could launch this week, claims a new report
- It is a bit delayed compared to the usual public beta -launch date
- It is unlikely to push the full iOS 26 -Release back, expected in September
IOS 26 developer Beta has been out since Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025, but if you have itching to get your hands on beta without demanding a developer account, there is good news as iOS 26 public beta is joked to be launched as soon as this week.
It is according to the latest power on newsletter ($/£) from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. Gurman revealed that “all indications are that iOS 26 should enter the public beta phase in the coming week.”
It will bring the updated iOS operating system to a much wider audience than it currently has, although not the full, ready-to-go release-it is expected in September along with the unveiling of the iPhone 17 Series.
In a post of X last week, Gurman said iOS 26 public beta could launch on July 23 or around Wednesday, July 23, and the subsequent power of updating seems to suggest that Gurman remains sure of that timing.
New features will come soon
Gurman’s report also briefly affected iOS 27, which is expected in 2026. Gurman believes Apple has already begun to develop on this software, which he says will focus on features intended for Apple’s foldable iPhone.
It was joined to launch in the latter half of 2026 or perhaps early 2027, and will mark Apple’s first attempt to put the current best folding phones on the market. Therefore, there is a lot of pressure on Apple to get it right, maybe explain the early start of iOS 27.
In the past, Apple has tended to release its iOS public betas around mid -July, so the set -up launch date of July 23 is a little later than usual. Gurman attributes this to the full -blown floating glass nest in iOS 26 and says “It makes sense that Apple will take some extra time to get things right.”
But Gurman is not worried about any knock-on effect of this delayed public beta release date, adding that it will unlikely to push the reveal of the full version of iOS 26.
Apart from iOS 26, Apple will almost certainly release public betas to MacOS 26, iPados 26, Watchos 26, TVOS 26 and an update to HomePod’s operating system at the same time.
The iOS 26 upgrade brings a radically revised look and feels thanks to the fluid glass nest as well as increased protection against spamop callers, a new game app, updates to Apple Intelligence and more.
And with the public beta that is reportedly launching this week, you can soon try them yourself – just make sure to remember to back up your iPhone first if something goes wrong.
