- United Airlines now supports iOS 26’s improved boarding passes
- This means you can see a flyer and airport card from boarding pass in Apple Wallet
- More airlines are expected to support these features soon
IOS 26 landed recently and it brought a whole lot of upgrades to your iPhone, including a new Liquid Glass Interface Design. But one of the promised upgrades was actually not available at the launch as it required airlines to get on board.
Of course, we are talking about the new boarding pass features in the Apple Wallet, and now (via 9to5Mac), United Airlines has finally embraced these useful tools.
If you add a United Boarding Pass to Apple Wallet in iOS 26, you have more than just the boarding pass yourself – you can also press a button on it to add a flyer to your lock screen that shows things like the time left on your flight and departure or arrival port.
In addition, there is also the opportunity to share Flight Tracker with friends and family members, in which case they will see the same information on their locking screen, except for your seat number and boarding group.
Airport card and luggage tracking
These new improved boarding passes can also show an airport card and can display the location of any luggage that has an airtag -tracker.
So these are some practical features, and although many airline apps are already offering flight trackers, others can’t, and having them all in a centralized place (Apple design book) could be useful regardless.
Of course, you still need the airline to support these features, and right now it means you can only access them at United. However, Apple has said that Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, Jetblue, Jetstar, Lufthansa, Qantas, Southwest and Virgin Australia will also add support soon. Hopefully other airlines will follow, but it’s back to see.
