- iPados 26 brings the journal to iPad
- Journal, previously an iPhone -sklusive, users offer a dedicated place for memories and notes
- IPad version adds Apple Pencil -Support as well as a card for adding places to items
Apple brings the journal app to iPad with iPados 26 after two years of iPhone exclusivity.
The Journal app, which is already pre -installed on all the best iPhones, will be one of iPads standard apps with the upcoming release of iPados 26.
The journal for iPad follows pretty much the same format as its iPhone counterpart – it’s a place to save memories, note notes, add photos and iPad specifically write and draw with Apple Pencil.
Apple’s official press release describing the new features of iPados 26 notes that the app allows users to create multiple journals “for different aspects of life.”
The app also contains a map section, presumably to find and pin placements for journal posts.
As the press release notes, the journal App allows users the opportunity to incorporate “photos, videos, audio recordings, places, their state of mind and more” in each post.
Apple has not confirmed this, but given the company’s history, we would expect journal items to sync between iPhone and iPad over iCloud – though we are not sure how the Apple pencil features will translate between the two platforms.
A perfect fit

If you ask me, a version of the journal App for iPad is too late. It is a reflective app that brings together different aspects of one’s day and life, and the large, portable canvas that iPad gives is a natural mating.
Take a quick scroll through the Techier pages of YouTube and you’ll find dozens of videos demonstrating iPad setups that focus on note, minimalism and mindfulness.
The Journal app gives users an officially supported bit software at no extra cost to get started with or integrate into their iPad use.
Personally, I can see myself returning to my iPad Pro 2020 to the journal App-I recently wrote that my 11-inch model has mostly found itself referred to the role of YouTube Machine, but it would be a perfect size device to continue my travels as a journal.
And with the journal App apparently a specialized notepad and file browser, I would suggest that it will not take too much treatment power, which means it can be a good addition to even older or less powerful iPad models.
We do not have a full list of devices supported by iPados 26 yet, but we would expect the journal app to come to all the best iPads. Tell us if you wanted to use the new journal -app in the comments below.
