- All four most important iPhone 17 models could get promotional screens
- A new rumor suggests that Apple is using 120Hz Samsung M14 OLED panels to the supposedly upcoming phones
- A separate rumor suggests that the iPhone 17 setup is getting a new Wi-Fi-chip
Although Apple has only just finished the iPhone 16 family with the new iPhone 16E, we continue to hear rumors about the next generation of iPhone hand sets.
And although the iPhone 16E represents the most budget-focused side of Apple’s smartphone lineup, a new rumor suggests that the whole family gets a pro-level display feature with the next generation of iPhone.
According to a Weibo post from Leaker Setsuna Digital (via PhoneArena), all four Mainline iPhone 17 models could launch with 1-120Hz variable update frequency screens, as Apple brands as promotion.
As the name suggests, Apple has previously limited promotion to its pro devices – iPhone Pro and Pro Max, iPad Pro and MacBook Pro.
Although Setsuna Digital did not directly confirm that promotion would come to the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus (in addition to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max by default), the tipster said all four phones would use the Samsung M14 OLED panels that Supports variable update speeds.
However, Apple could still limit the update speed for the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus through software, although this is likely to be exposed to setback as an irregular example of the company’s famous blunt model differentiation strategy.
The newly launched iPhone 16E uses the iPhone 14’s Notched 60Hz panel. Although Setsuna Digital does not mention a suspected iPhone 17E, there seems to be less chance that a middle -class iPhone will receive the promotion upgrade along with the main line models.
However, the iPhone 17 series can take signals from the iPhone 16E when it comes to connection.
The iPhone 16E is remarkable as the first device that contains Apple’s new proprietary C1-cellular modem, and another rumor suggests that the iPhone 17 Series will all have a new proprietary Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Chip-supervised along with the C1 modem.
Recognized analyst and Apple Oracle Ming-Chi Kuo suggested in a post to X (formerly Twitter) that the new Wi-Fi chip would allow for better connection between different Apple devices.
So these are two reputation upgrades to iPhone 17. We do not expect to hear official news about the iPhone 17 series before much later in the year, but now let’s know what you would like to see in the comments below.
