- IPhone 17E could be stuck with a 60Hz screen
- It can also stick to the same single-lens camera system as its predecessor
- However, its design and chipset can be upgraded
The iPhone 17 series has now landed, but a model that carries this number may still be on the way as we are likely to see an iPhone 17E next year. But if you are planning to hold out to Apple’s next middle class iPhone, you might consider considering.
According to Apple Watcher Mark Gurman, who wrote in his power on newsletter to Bloomberg (via telephone arena), the iPhone 17E is not close to matching the basic model iPhone 17. It is unlike the iPhone 16E, which at least had a similar screen like iPhone 16 and the same chipset.
But with the iPhone 17E you will apparently get stuck with a 60Hz screen instead of the 120Hz that the iPhone 17 has. The iPhone 17E apparently will also have the same 48MP single-lens camera as iPhone 16E.
More power and a new look
So what will be improved? Well, allegedly, it will look like the basic model iPhone 16, which means a dynamic island rather than chopped on the iPhone 16E. And it seems to have an A19 chipset that could see it match the iPhone 17 for power.
Still with a subordinate screen and only a rear camera it might not be the most compelling devices. But this is apparently intentional where Apple is said to create more differentiation between the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17E than exists between the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16E.
That way, the iPhone 17E is more obvious a budget model, and the iPhone 17 can remain a better purchase for people who can afford it – and want a lot from their phone.
Of course, none of this is confirmed yet, but Mark Gurman has an excellent Track Record for Apple information, so there is a good chance that this is precise, especially as this matches with a previous iPhone 17E leakage.
We may not find out the official specifications of the iPhone 17E for a while when the iPhone 16e landed back in February, the only release date is pointing so far on a May launch for iPhone 17E.
