- The folding iPhone is again jerked to have a camera under-display
- We also hear that it doesn’t have face -id
- Its screens can also be less than earlier rumored
While the world learned to live with iPhone’s notch and questions were improved as Apple switched to a dynamic island, in the end, we would bet that most people prefer a minor cut on screen. Well, with iPhone-Foldet-Og to be known as the Foldable iPhone we finally get it, and in fact there may be no camera cut in one of the screens at all.
This is according to Leaker Yeux1122, which posts in the South Korean place Naver (via Gsmarena). According to them, Apple’s current foldable iPhone prototype has a piston hole camera on the tire screen and a sub-display camera for the folding screen.
Being under the display means it should not cause a visible interruption of the screen and it is something we have already seen on some phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, but never on an iPhone.
This is not the first time we have heard of the folding iPhone that has a sub-display camera, but hearing it again increases the likelihood that it will happen and it can also bode well for other iPhones as it may mean that the days of a massive screen cut is numbered.
NO FACE -ID is found
That said, Face ID apparently won’t be under the display. In fact, FACE ID is not present at all with the foldable iPhone instead of having a Touch ID sensor on the page. This is also something we’ve heard before.
In addition, YEUX1122 claims that the screen size of this prototype is slightly smaller than on the previous prototype. They do not specify what size it is here, but a fairly recent leakage pointed to a 7.74-inch foldable display and a 5.49-inch tire screen.
Apparently, however, the decisions have not changed, despite a fall in size, and the YEUX1122 adds that the folding screen’s image format for this prototype is 14.6: 1, while the coverage screen is 14.1: 1.
Even if these details are correct, it is of course possible that things will change again in future prototypes, as with Apple is not expected to launch the foldable iPhone until the end of 2026 at the earliest, the company may not have completed the design yet.
