IPVanish has just announced a new partnership with United Rugby Championship (URC).
The campaign aims to promote better cyber security practices among rugby fans globally. It repeats similar initiatives performed by some of the best VPN providers in the past.
Protection, on the track and online
In a talk about the partnership, IPVanish General Manager, Subbu Sthanu said: “Whether it’s on the field or online, everyone needs to protect their homes. This partnership allows us to get in touch with a passionate, technically-savvy audience and drive home the importance of safety and privacy in everyday life.”
Specifically, IPVanish’s “first defense line” seeks to promote digital security across the sport’s global fanbase. This includes a consciousness initiative aimed at educating fans and holding to protect themselves online.
The provider also wants to support the role of Rugby League’s official TV group, TV matches (TMOs). The goal here is to “improve how decisions are communicated to fans both at the stadium and look at home,” the provider explains.
Founded in 2001, the United Rugby Championship (URC) is a professional annual competition containing elite clubs from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa and Wales.
As mentioned earlier, IPVanish is not the first VPN provider to join a sports club to promote cyber security values across professionals and supporters.
