Muzaffarabad:
Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and senior diplomat Masood Khan have warned that escalating Iran-Israel conflict could have serious and far-reaching consequences for Pakistan’s national security and stability.
In a series of media interviews, Khan expressed deep concern about the extended scope of hostilities between Iran and Israel, warning that a long -lasting war could trigger a new wave of refugee influx to Pakistan, similar to the demand for the Afghan conflict.
“If the war pulls on, there is a strong opportunity for a mass immigration of Iranian refugees against Pakistan,” he said, noting that such a scenario would strain Pakistan’s resources and social substance.
Khan emphasized that a potentially more dangerous result would be the weakening of the border between Pakistan-Iran, making it vulnerable to the utilization of anti-state elements.
“Groups supported by hostile foreign powers, especially India – such as, among others, BLF and other clerks – could infiltrate in Pakistan uncontrollably, which pose a serious threat to our inner security,” he warned. By touching the strategic motives behind Israeli’s military actions, Khan pointed out that Tel Aviv has targeted Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
“Israel has already attacked nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan, Fordow and other key spaces where uranium enrichment and missile programs are assumed to be based,” he said. “They claim to have neutralized nearly 40 percent of Iran’s air defense systems.”
Khan claimed that Israel is pushing the United States to either intervene directly into the conflict or allow Israel to use tactical nuclear weapons against Iran.
“Israel lobbying for the use of bunker-buster bombs or underground nuclear strikes that, according to them, would limit radioactive falls to underground areas,” he explained.
