The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan, in a statement released on Sunday, condemned “in the strongest possible terms” what it termed “the cowardly, heinous and barbaric act of terrorism targeting the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
The statement comes amid confirmation from Iranian state media that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed in Israeli and US strikes yesterday against Iran.

“Recalling the bravery, resistance, steadfastness and lifelong devotion of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, to the ideals of independence, dignity and resistance,” the statement reads, it affirms “unwavering solidarity with the noble aspirations of the Islamic Revolution.”
Furthermore, the embassy gives its firm commitment to the enduring principles of the Islamic Revolution and emphasizes “that we will stand by the eternal aspirations of this great martyr until our last breath and the last drop of our blood.”

The statement considers Khamenei “a great historical figure who, like his great ancestor, Imam Hussein (PBUH), was courageously martyred along with his innocent family at the hands of the most despicable, vicious and cowardly elements in Karbala and did not surrender and succumb.”
Khamenei’s struggles, writes the embassy, describing him as a great martyr and tireless scholar, “will forever be recorded in history and will be a model for the free people of the world.”
“The blood of the Great Leader…made the evergreen youth of the Islamic Republic more fertile and resilient,” the statement added.

Stating that Iran is based on strong constitutional institutions and well-established legal mechanisms, the embassy adds that “depending on the solid structure established by the great imams of the Islamic Revolution, depending on the blood of the martyrs, and in all circumstances, in full accordance with its constitution, the country will ensure continuity of leadership, steadfastness and firmness of rule.”
It adds that the Islamic Republic will elect its new leadership, “bravely and steadfastly continuing on its spiritual and humane path ever after.”

Khamenei, 86, was martyred in the most ambitious series of attacks on Iran in decades, which has so far killed 201 and injured more than 700.
US President Donald Trump said the airstrikes on Iranian targets were aimed at ending a decades-long threat from Iran and ensuring it could not develop a nuclear weapon, as he sought to justify a risky gamble that appeared to go against his stated opposition to US involvement in complex overseas conflicts.
However, Iran retaliated in the wake of what Israel and the United States have called “Operation Epic Fury,” firing hundreds of missiles and drones in response to the initial strikes. Iranian missiles have targeted US troops in the region and cities in Israel and Arab countries allied with Washington.
