- iRobot launching new flagship Roomba Max 705 VAC with Autoempty Dock
- It has a little more suction than other Roombas but is otherwise much simpler
- It costs $ 899.99 / £ 699 and is available for pre -order now
IRobot has revealed a brand new flagship robotvakuum – Roomba Max 705 VAC along with Autoempty Dock. And while it looks like a very skilled Robovac, I can’t help but feel pretty underrated and also a little confused.
It looks like only Area where this Robovac improves in the rest of the area is that it has a higher maximum suction level. It’s great – cleaning power is pretty key if your Robovac wants to be useful after all – but it’s not the most exciting feature of a flagship model.
In addition, there are several ways in which MAX 705 VAC is missing compared to the other Roombas. It is only Model not to offer Mopping capacities along with the vacuuming, which also means that the dock is significantly more basic than the autowash that comes with 405 and 505 models.
I am not reluctant to a vacuum-only robot, and I do not believe in complicating for the sake of complicating, but it is confusing to have a flagship model with a feature list that is so much shorter than the models below it.
The reason I know it’s a flagship model is because it has ‘Max’ in the name. The naming form for iRobot Goes Roomba (Good), Roomba Plus (Better), Roomba Max (Best).
To be fair, pricing reflects this relative simplicity. MAX 705 VAC costs $ 899.99 / £ 699 compared to $ 999.99 / £ 699 for Roomba Plus 505 under it. It is significantly more affordable than most Robovacs’ top-of-the-range-models-many of today’s very best robot wacuum has list prices well into four numbers.
Elsewhere, you get the brand’s most advanced Lidar navigation (‘ClearView Pro’) and Object Detection Technology (‘PrecisionVision AI’), two rubber rolls to effectively pull the hair up and whip it in the trash, an auto-empty dock capable of holding up to 75 days worth of dust and a smooth design, including To melt more to holding up to your house tire. All good features, but no unique for max 705 VAC.
It automatically increases suction when it senses it is on the blanket which power Be a unique feature, although plus 505 can “intelligently adapt to deep cleaning”, which sounds like it could be the same thing.
This sucks
Apart from feeling underestimated by the new launch, I am also frustrated to see that iRobot seems to have gone back on his plans to publish suction specifications for his Robovac line. Instead, it insists on conveying its bots’ cleaning forces comparative to the 600 series. Not only does it make comparison to other brands’ models impossible, but it is also not exactly a modern benchmark considering the 600 launched over a decade ago.
Based on iRobots specifications, 705 VAC “180x offers more power-lifting suction” than the old 600 series, while the rest of the range simply offers 70x more. But without a figure in Pascals, I can’t compare it to what other brands offer with their Robovacs.
A late addition
Roomba Max 705 VAC is an unexpected straggler after a larger iRobot recovery last month. In mid -March, the brand scraped almost all of its fleet of Robovacs and replaced them with new models. The new Roomba features included overdue upgrades such as the introduction of Lidar for navigation along with more innovative features such as a bot that squeezes dirt in its onboard tray so you don’t have to give way to a voluminous auto-empty dock.
The only model that survived Cull was the Roomba Max 10 combination, which at that time was still pretty new. I pointed out at the time that this was a shame because this model had not been massively well received, and so rather dated compared to its new staff.
It looks like MAX 705 VAC is replacing this model. It looks like it will be a better Robovac with basic features in accordance with the rest of the range, even if there is nothing special new. 705 is also less than half the price of max 10.
I guess a combination model is in the works and endorses the range at some point, even if it’s pure speculation.
Roomba Max 705 VAC Robot + Autoempty Dock is available for pre -order now with the official launch that is due on May 11, 2025. Direct from iRobot it costs $ 899.99 / £ 699.
