The Advisory Committee for Indus River System Authority (IRSA) will hold a meeting on May 5 to review the situation of the availability of water in the country for Kharif crops.
The meeting will also review the status of the implementation of the decisions made by the advisory committee at his last meeting on March 26. The meeting assumes a new meaning in the wake of India’s decision on April 23 to unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).

In the case of Mangla Dam, whose minimum operating level is 1,050 feet and maximum conservation level is 1,242 feet, the current water level is 1,132.70 feet. Applicable water storage at the dam from May 1 was 1,095 million acre feet.
At the Chashma Dam, whose minimum operating level is 638.15 feet and maximum preservation level is 649 feet, the current water level is 643.80 feet. The applicable water storage on Thursday was 0.107 million acre-foot
The document stated that the inflow and outflow data to River Indus at Tarbela and Chashma, the river Kabul at Nowshera, and the River Jhelum by Marda is based on a 24-hour average power. “For everywhere else, the data represents the water flow as registered at 06:00 today,” it said.
