Spotify users run into many problems, but one of the service’s most complained problems is its blend button that users claim is not random enough. However, that could change very soon.
In an app -demolition, Android Authority discovered new strings in Spotify for Android, pointing to some changes in the Shuffle feature that could allow you to have more control over playback when you mix your playlists.
The string points to two different settings. The first is the opportunity to hear fewer repetitions that will randomize your playlist while remembering the recent plays, which means that songs you’ve just listened to will be less likely to reappear in the listening session. The best thing about this setting is that hidden pearls and less played songs in your playlist will be more likely to appear.
The second option points to the Standard Shuffle feature, which the string says will “shuffle track in a random order; each track has a straight shot, even if it means you hear some tracks more often than others”.
Currently, Spotify offers three playback options: linear playback (non-shuffle), standard shuffle and smart shuffl, E, which inserts a Spotify recommended every third track. If the upgrades are publicly rolled out, it will give Spotify users explicit control over standard shuffle playback that users have wanted for quite a long time. But that’s not the only change Spotify has made to his mixing buttons this year.
It all started with smart blend
When Spotify introduced his smart Shuffle button in 2023, it received a number of reactions. Many users did not like the fact that the feature was activated automatically, resulting in a lot of confusion during listening sessions.
It all changed back in April. In response to the criticism, Spotify secretly added a new framework that allows users to completely disable smart blend. Before this, you could disable Smart Shuffle by simply pressing the Shuffle button on the music playback page, although this method was never completely effective.
Although we do not know if the rumored new Shuffle changes are coming to users, they would be a reassuring addition to the app for users as they show that Spotify is listening to its subscribers. That said, it took Spotify over five years to listen before I gave us lossless, so I don’t hold my breath.
