Hollywood star Tom Hanks receives setback after his performance on Saturday Night Live (SNL).
The “Forest Gump” actor played a Trump supporter of the show’s 50 -year anniversary special wearing a magahue and sporting a rural accent.
The actor also played the same character in a SNL skit in 2016 that was sent just days before President Donald Trump was elected to his first term of office.
To respond to the controversial shit at X, Link Lauren, former political adviser to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called it a “tired trope,” and suggested that is why the show’s rating falls.
For Tom Hanks fans who are not aware of his political association, the actor is not a Trump supporter.
He has publicly expressed his opposition to the Republican and in particular criticized Trump’s comments and behavior, especially in relation to the “Access Hollywood” tape and Trump’s lack of political experience.
Hanks has also approved political figures from the Democratic Party, including Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
