Islamabad High Court rejects bail in Kirpa Woman’s Burning Case

Islamabad High Court on Tuesday rejected the guarantee facility after declaration filed by Adil Mehmood, accused of burning his wife alive in the church area of ​​the federal capital.

A single-member bench, led by justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, heard Mehmood’s plea, where the court was presented to the victim, Sania Bibi’s dying rejection.

Sania, a mother of three, accused her husband Mehmood and his father Mustab Hussain of setting her on fire after a warmed argument. Sania’s testimony was registered while she was undergoing treatment at Pim’s Hospital Islamabad. Based on the dying statement, Sania and her husband were in the middle of an argument as Mehmood pulled her inside the house and Hussain tossed her with gasoline. The two set her on fire.

According to Sania’s testimony, she continued to scream for help but no one came. It was two hours later that she received medical attention. Sania further accused Mehmood and Hussain of pushing her to lie and state that she was injured in a gas cylinder explosion while on her way to the hospital.

Her jewels were taken to the hospital and her companions – the perpetrators – refused her water until a doctor became an intervention. In addition, Mehmood and Hussain warned her from informing her brothers or encountering further damage, Sania testified, adding that her children’s safety was also threatened.

A case was filed at Kirpa Police Station on June 9, 2025, after Sania’s statement was registered.

Both Mehmood and Hussain were taken to Adiala Prison, where they remain imprisoned. Sania succumbed to her injuries after almost a month of treatment at Pim’s Hospital.

IHC rejected guarantee facility after occasion filed by Mehmood through his lawyer, maintaining the decision from District and Sessions Court, who had previously refused him guarantee.
