In a significant development aimed at strengthening the bilateral ties, a high -level delegation met from Afghanistan’s temporary government with Pakistan’s Prime Minister for Interior Decor, Talal Chaudhry and domestic secretary Khurram Agha in Islamabad on Friday.

The Afghan delegation was led by the acting minister of trade and industry Haji Nooruddin Azizi and included the Minister of Refugees and Returns, the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan and other senior officials.

During the meeting, both parties dealt with extensive discussions on key issues of mutual interest, including cross -border transit trade and repatriation of Afghan citizens who are currently residing in Pakistan.

Chaudhry confirmed Pakistan’s sustained obligation to promote friendly and collaborative relationships with Afghanistan. He noted that Pakistan had generously hosted millions of Afghan citizens over the past four decades and would continue to offer those coming in through legal channels.

Chaudhry emphasized the government’s efforts to manage migration in an orderly and legal way with reference to “a document regime” as a necessary step to ensure that only documented persons remained in the country.

He emphasized that Afghan citizens were kept to a great extent and that their repatriation would be carried out with dignity and care. “To support this process, more than 50 transit camps have been established equipped with medical and essential facilities across the country,” said Chaudhry.

“In addition, complaint cells operate under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior and provincial chief secretaries to prevent unfortunate incidents,” he added. He assured himself that Afghan citizens who had evidence of registration cards (por) would not face any difficulties until June 30, 2025.

In the apartment, Azizi expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s many years of support from Afghan refugees and recognized the hospitality that was expanded over the years.

He conveyed the Afghan government’s desire to elaborate on cooperation with Pakistan, especially in areas of safety and trade.
