Islamabad:
Pakistan on Monday greeted the award made by the Court of Arbitration, of the issue of general interpretation of the Indus Water’s Treaty (IWT), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The award was announced on August 8 and published on the court’s website on Monday. The rulers interpret the designed criteria for the new River developments projects to be constructed by India on the Western Rivers-Chenab, Jhelum and Indus.
“It is an endorsement of Pakistan’s historical attitude to the above questions,” states the statement made by the Foreign Office spokesman while referring to IWT and India’s unilateral decision to hold the Treaty in Abeyance.
“The award is of particular importance in the wake of India’s recent announcement to keep IWT in Abeyance, and its previous decision to boycott the case of the arbitration court,” the spokesman set.
“Pakistan remains obliged to full implementation of the Indus Waters Treaty. It also expects India to immediately resume the normal function of the treaty and faithfully implement the price announced by the court court,” he added.
