Operation Swift Retort remains a defining moment in Pakistan’s military history, often cited as an example of the country’s emergency against external threats.

The anniversary acts as a confirmation of its defense policy and strategic deterrence.

On February 27, 2019, the tensions between India and Pakistan escalated dramatically following a series of air releases over the disputed region of Kashmir.

The Pakistani Air Force (PAF) claimed that the carried out air strikes in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), resulting in the step -down of an Indian aircraft and the capture of its pilot.

This confrontation took place a day after Indian jets entered the Pakistani airspace, and targeted what they are alleged as a militant camp. These events marked a significant escalation between the two nuclear armed neighbors.

Later in 2019, August 5, the Indian government took a decisive step by revoking the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, which had been awarded under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.

This step effectively abolished the region’s autonomy, which led to its reorganization in two trade union areas: Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The decision was accompanied by a communication interruption and increased military presence to prevent potential turmoil.

Today, Pakistan condemns India’s unilateral actions in IIOJK and calls for the solution of Kashmir -blanket through a decision on Plebiscit and the UN Security Council.
