- Multiple sources are now claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series has been delayed
- You’ll probably have to wait until March for that, which means a delay of about two months
- This is probably because Samsung has changed its plans and replaced the S26 Edge with an S26 Plus
Not too long ago we heard reports that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series could be delayed to March, which would see it land around two months later than the January release we expected based on previous form. At the time, only one source had mentioned this, but now others have repeated this claim.
According to the reputable leaker Ice Universe posting on Weibo, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series has been “confirmed to be delayed” and the also reputable Setsuna Digital has said that it “may be delayed until March” (both via Phone Arena).
None of these sources give a reason for the delay, but the latest reports suggest that it may be the fault of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge; or rather that there will reportedly not be a Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge due to low sales of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
However, instead of just shipping two phones (the base Samsung Galaxy S26 and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra), the company is said to be planning a Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus instead – something it likely now needs more time to develop, as this rumored change in plans is apparently a recent development.
Name changes and chipset selection
That’s probably the main reason, but there are other potential issues too, as Samsung is said to be fiddly about what to call the base model. A name change from the Samsung Galaxy S26 to the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro has been tipped for a while, but now apparently abandoned, and there may be further uncertainty within the company about which – if any – models will be equipped with its in-house Exynos 2600 chipset.
However, recently we heard that Samsung has made a high profit from this chipset and that its performance is promising, so it can be used a lot.
Any or all of this could cause delays to the Galaxy S26 line’s launch, and with multiple sources now saying it’s likely to be delayed, we’d say it’s looking likely. While it’s still worth taking all of this with a grain of salt – we won’t know for sure that the Samsung Galaxy S26 line won’t arrive in its typical January release window until Samsung says otherwise, or until it doesn’t show up altogether.
