- Marvel Show’s launch was not affected by Pandemic or 2023 Hollywood strikes
- Work was completed in the middle of 2024, so we have had to wait seven months for it
Two of Your friendly neighborhood spider-man‘s (Yfnsm) Manufacturers have explained why it was not released until it should have been.
Brad Winderbaum and Jeff Trammell, the latter of which is also Yfnsm‘S showrunner and lead author told Techradar that there were two major reasons for the show’s delayed launch. Oddly enough, it had nothing to do with the pandemic or the Hollywood strike in 2023, although the latter was the biggest cause of several Marvel film delays and a much more quiet 2024 for Marvel Studios on the Disney Plus front.
So, given the Winderbaum-Marvel’s Head of TV, Streaming and Animation-Tended to Me that the Marvel phase 5 show was “completed last summer” (it will be mid-2024, for anyone who speculates) what Was the team? As it happens, some final poles add to the overall series and, even more strange, questions from a distribution perspective.
“We announced it pretty quickly after we green its development,” Winderbaum told me about Spider-Man’s latest animated adventure. “We started showing fans some of the art on Comic-Con [in July 2021]So we worked on it just then.
“The timeline of development was about three years and we ended it actually last summer,” he added. “So we’ve waited with bated breathing on the world to see it. The only real delay was on the distribution page. You know, release plans and subject to a lot of different forces in the world so they are responsible to change and change.”
It wasn’t just planning patterns that deviated from their original goals. Yfnsm Was originally designed to be a show that was Canon in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), one that would have served as a prequel for Tom Holland-starring Spider-Man movie, also put in Marvel’s Cinematic Juggernaut. As Winderbaum explained in an edition of the Phase Hero Podcast in December 2024, the cartoon turned the giant away from that plan when we, as Windderbaum put it, “would have had to put so many limits on our history to get it to lock in Canon ”.

Even with its semi-creative revision, Yfnsm Was ready to debut on one of the world’s best streaming services seven months ago. Given the deficiency of Marvel content last year, it would make sense to release it on Disney’s primary streamer in 2024, then. Either way, Trammell does not complain about the extra development time given to the show’s crew.
“It took the time it took,” he told me with a smile. “There were certain parts of it where we thought ‘we can push this even more and do better’ and we were allowed to do it by Marvel, which was great.
“Everyone wants to deliver the best possible version,” continued trammell, “and I think we were able to do it because Marvel was so supportive, and gave us more time to stroke things or work on something that was not at the required level.
Depending on who you ask, Yfnsm Could have spent more time doing it as best as possible. In fact, Trammell has already had to defend his animation style after some fans criticized what it looked like, so some people may not agree with his feelings. Anyway you can see what I was thinking about Yfnsm And whether it deserves somewhere in our best Disney Plus Shows Guide when my review goes live tomorrow (January 29).
