The Joint Action Committee (JAC) announced on Thursday that it would participate in Friday’s (today) nationwide protests from the Pakistan Federation Union of Journalist’s (PFUJ) against the latest changes in the prevention of electronic crime law (PECA).
Despite the insurance policies with stakeholders, the federal government bulldozed the controversial bill in the National Assembly and then got it approved from the Senate in Haste, who speaks the volume of the government’s external motives and poor intention, said the journalist organizations in JAC- Including PFUJ, PBA, PBA said , CPNE, AEMEND AND APNS.
The government or the National Assembly did not do any consultations with the stakeholders, nor did the president meet with journalists until they accepted the bill despite repeated Jac appellers who were regrettable, they added.
Jac rejected the change of Bill directly and expressed his willingness to put a strong legal and public opposition to the law. The committee had begun to contact civil society, lawyer organizations and other stakeholders, Jac said. All Journalist Organizations in Jac would fully participate in PFUJ’s nationwide protests.
