After recording his 12th professional victory this weekend, Jake Paul now has no choice but to try to dampen his critics.
Paul defeated former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., son of the boxing legend, who had five different world titles in four different weight classes, Saturday in Anaheim and moved to 12-1.
With the victory, Paul is now officially ranked for the first time and comes in at No. 14 in the WBA Cruiserweight Rankings.

This now makes him entitled to a title match against Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, who is 48-1. Ramirez defended his title in the Co-Main event on Saturday and beat Yuniel Dorticos (ranked No. 7) before Paul and Chavez Jr. took the ring.
Paul’s career is often mocked because of his opponents – fighters who are either out of their prime. Like Mike Tyson, Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley or unpopular benefits such as Ryan Bourland and other August. However, he has been firmly in the fact that he wants to become a world champion.
In fact, he made the prediction of Pakinomist Digital that he would win a title by the summer of 2028.
Paul was recently challenged by Piers Morgan about his opponents, namely Super Master Canelo Alvarez, but Paul again claimed that Alvarez “appeared” him.

Jake Paul is facing unusual invitation from former boxing master
“Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, Champions in their sport. Gold Gloves Champions, Ryan Bourland, Other August, undefeated warriors. The list continues,” Paul told Morgan, before his match against Chavez Jr. “Former world champion on Saturday, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. I don’t know what in guys want to see. I was trying to fight to fight, he showed out of it … I’m trying to hit the right one. That’s why Chavez is here on Saturday.
“I’ve fought for more boxers with professional items, including Mike Tyson himself.”
Paul said back in February that he and Alvarez were in “deep negotiations” for a match that would have taken place during Cinco de Mayo weekend. Alvarez, however, was about to sign a four-match deal with the Riyadh season to fight in Saudi Arabia.
“It’s disappointing to see how the situation unfolded. MVP works with integrity, transparency and respect for the sport, its athletes and fans. Unfortunately, not everyone shares these values in the boxing world,” Paul said most valuable campaigns at the time.

Both Paul’s and Ramirez’s next opponents are TBD, but perhaps the fact that both co-main events that the same card could be a form of advance shade.
