Byu football player Jake Retzlaff is no longer a member of the football program. The relocation signalizes the official start of its process of transferring to another school.
In a social media post on Friday, Retzlaff confirmed that he had reached the “difficult decision” to retire and noted that he would “go away” from Cougars’ football program.
“After a lot of prayers, reflection and conversations with those I trust, I have made the difficult decision to officially retire from Byu and Byu football program,” Posted Retzlaff Friday on Instagram.

Quarterback has one year’s eligibility back. Since Retzlaff is just shy to educate himself, he would probably be classified as a graduate student because he competed in his last year with eligibility. He is also unlikely that he would enter the NCAA transfer portal. Retzlaff could instead deviate by Byu and sign up for another school.
At the end of June, ESPN reported that Quarterback intended to play elsewhere in 2025. At that time, Retzlaff had already started to tell his coaches and Byu teammates that he would leave school.

Retzlaff allegedly faced a suspension of violating the honor code at the university run by the Mormon Church, after acknowledging a consensus sexual relationship in his defense against the trial.
Retzlaff threw himself in 2,947 yards and 20 touchdowns with 12 interceptions last season when Cougars stretched for a place in the Big 12 Championship Game.
Byu -trainer Kalani Sitake avoided commenting on Retzlaff’s situation on the Big 12 Media Days earlier this week and said it was a private matter.
