James Cameron Eyes Animated Future for Avatar Franchise

James Cameron recently revealed that he has been in conversations with Disney to expand his record -breaking Avatar Franchise to the area of animation.

In an interview with Empire MagazineThe Oscar-winning instructor said, “Look, I will make an animated anthology series that is essentially in the world, but stories that you would not have expected of that world.”

He suggested that this extension not only involved a series but also a potentially animated feature film.

In addition, Cameron cited too Animatrix As a key inspiration. “It was a good example of how we can add texture and baroque details to the world of avatar,” he explained.

“Who landed first on Pandora? The first expedition. You could go anywhere you want,” Cameron continued, noticing that the stories could offer “Back story on characters and tangential things that happened off camera in the movies.”

He added that the project is still in its early stages and said, “We still gather our stories and such things, and I have to find the shop film creators, the animators that will do it.”

Camerons Avatar Saga, Avatar: Fire and Ash will hit theaters on December 19th.
