James Gunn has dropped a big tease about Wonder Woman’s DCU -DeBut
DC Studios Co-Chef not says when Diana Prince returns to the big screen
But fans are convinced she will be part of Gunn’s next project, which can be a team-up movie
James Gunn has set tongues that cradle among DC Comic-Book fans after teasing the Wonder Woman’s DC Universe (DCU) -debut may not be as far away as many people think.
Posting on threads yesterday (May 15), DC Studios-CO chief fell the biggest tip, but that Diana Prince could be part of his and Peter Safran’s new look-filming universe before than expected.
When asked by a fan, if he could share any news about Wonder Woman’s possible arrival at DCU, Gunn replied: “Not to be shared in public yet, but yes. Encouraging.”

Admittedly, it is not much to continue. Given that Wonder Woman is the only member of DC Comics’ Trinity – the trinity is, the company’s three most popular heroes in Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman – not to get her own DCU project yet, it is nevertheless exciting to hear Gunn talk her possible performance in DCU.
Fans have long questioned the decision not to advertise a Wonder Woman movie as part of Gunn and Safran’s original DCU movie and TV show -lineup in early 2023.
At that time, Gunn’s Superman Film arriving on July 11 was confirmed to be the first of several superhero -flicks that will include DCU chapter 1. The brave and bold A Batman movie inspired by its cartoon names, was also revealed next to Chapter WE’s first 11-strong slate.
Gunn revealed a Wonder Woman-Esque TV series as part of Chapter One’s original lineup. But even if that show – Paradise lost – is billed as a Game of Thrones -Inspired story that will be put on Themyscria, alias Prince’s Idyllic Home Island, Amazonian is not its protagonist. Not surprisingly, it annoyed some DCAficionados that felt that despite Wonder Woman’s lasting popularity, she was overlooked.

Gunn’s Threads Post comes warmly on the heels of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) CEO David Zaslav’s own comments about the company’s desire to take advantage of the popularity of four specific DC Super heroes.
In a speech under WBD’s Q1 2025 earnings call (as reported by Yahoo) Zaslav said: “When looking at the protagonists … that James Gunn and Peter Safran develop with their 10-year plan around DC, that is, to build asset value globally [with] Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, [and] Supergirl. So we look at them as big asset builders and big differentiates. “
Obviously, Zaslav wants WBD subsidiary DC Studios to take a more proactive approach to building DCU around its most iconic Metahumans and surprising no one that includes Wonder Woman.

With Zaslav and Gunn, who publicly responded to queries about Diana Prince in recent days, fans have renewed hope that it won’t be too long before the princess of Themyscira is back on the big screen. And if a new fan of theory is to believe some observers, she thinks she will return to Gunn’s next project, which-what the quiet-Kunne be a team-up between Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman.
By going to threads on May 10, Gunn revealed that he had started working on a new DCU movie. Oddly enough, however, he confirmed that it was a new project, ie. Not one of the seven who currently constitutes DCU chapter 1, alias ‘gods and monsters’.
This post, combined with his comments about Wonder Woman, has not surprisingly caused a voting. So much, in fact, that some fans claim he must punish the manuscript for a Trinity movie. In fact, a thread on the DCUleaks Reddit side is full of people who theorize that that’s what Gunn is working on.
Comment from R/Dculax
What do I take from the situation? A movie that brings DC Comics’ three biggest heroes together would not only be (hopefully) completely brilliant, but would also help us to forget-how I can put this polite-less than ideal team-up we got with Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Batman V Superman ‘S Undooked Third Act.
Marvel has proven that people will flow to see their favorite superheroes unite on the silver screen, so there is no reason why DCU would not benefit from seeing Prince, The Dark Knight and Man of Steel along with taking down a common enemy.
That said, it could be years before a Trinity movie sees the light of day. Yes, Superman are ready to take aircraft in DCU and while Kara Zor-El is not part of the Trinity, Supergirl: Tomorrow Woman Landing in theaters next June, will introduce wider audiences to the fourth main pilot Zaslav mentioned earlier this week.
But until The brave and bold ‘s development goes off the ground, and either Paradise lost Or an independent Wonder Woman movie introduces us to DCU’s Diana Prince, I don’t see a world where a trinity movie would be the right project for Gunn to tackle next.
We live in hope, but if the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU) has taught us something, it is that film franchise have to go before they can run, and to make and release a trinity movie before its legendary Metahumans are all established in DCU, would be the opposite of it.
