James McAvoy discovered an important connection with ‘X-Men’ players Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen

James McAvoy found an iconic connection with his X-Men co-stars – Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen while rehearsing for the film.

The 46-year-old actor said that the three had played Shakespeare Macbeth on stage and it ended up being a building block for their bond.

The Reconciliation star shared: “I had hair extensions put in and I went into the trailer and I think Patrick was cooking and Sir Ian was sitting with his feet up in the recliner,” adding: “I had just finished cooking. Macbeth on London’s West End,” during New York Comic Con.

McAvoy went on to say that McKellen called him to ask about his recent Macbeth stint and asked to “do a bit” together since Stewart had also done so.

The Share the actor recalled that he finished Macbeth two weeks ago and he “couldn’t remember a single line”, while Stewart and The Lord of the Rings star was “like knocking back and forth [their] favorite pieces from Macbeth.”

The moment deeply inspired McAvoy as he thought, “It’s just a different kind of actor, a different kind of machine.”

The Glass actor shared that he was lucky to have the former actor playing his character, despite his light-hearted competition with his older counterpart.

McAvoy joked about the most meaningful moments with fans at Comic Con, saying, “When they tell me I was better than Patrick, it means so much. It really resonates with me.”
