Javeria Saud, an actor, writer and host, has found himself in the limelight after defending a wazifa (ordained prayers) shared by Maulana Azad Jamil at her Ramadan transmission show.
Wazifa, who suggests writing Zam Zam with a finger on an electricity meter to reduce electricity bills, have circulated and released a heated debate online.
The video contains Javeria Saud, who shares her thoughts on the matter. While admitting that she cannot confirm the effectiveness of practice, she maintains that if it is done with true faith (aqeedat), it can work.
Despite her perspective, many critics on social media have slammed both Wazifa and Saud’s defense and accused her of ignorance by approving superstition.
