The Legal Commission for Pakistan (JCP) is ready to meet here Monday (today) to consider the increase of eight Supreme Court judges to the Supreme Court, despite the calls of some judges and sections of the legal community to postpone the meeting.

“We assure these factions that their meaningless exercises performed by political elements are bound to fail and soon become ineffective. Once again we want the chosen representatives to make it clear that we support all the legal commission in Pakistan , ”stated the joint statement.

They called the formation of JCP the most balanced in recent times and added that they accepted the 26th constitutional change and the events that followed as part of the constitution. “It’s the duty of any law -abiding citizen to follow this framework,” the statement added.

“We, the elected representatives of the legal society, have always been responsible for the rule of law, the independence of the judiciary, the supremacy of the institutions and the maintenance of the constitution,” said the joint statement.
