JCP to appoint new HC CJs on July 1

Islamabad:

The Legal Commission for Pakistan (JCP) is scheduled to meet on July 1st to consider appointments by permanent chief of Justamabad High Court (IHC), Sindh High Court (SHC), Peshawar High Court (PHC) and Balochistan High Court (BHC).

The JCP meeting is convened in Islamabad under Presidency by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Yahya Afridi, at. 14.00. After consideration, the Commission will propose the name of one of the three most senior judges from each Supreme Court of the height to the supreme position.

Interestingly, a CB of the Supreme Court revealed his ruling on Thursday in a judge’s seniority case, declaring the transfer of three judges to IHC in February this year, and the subsequent change in the IHC seniority list was under law and constitution.

Now IHC functioning Chief Justice, Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar, who was among the judges transferred to court, will be at the top of the list of senior most judges in the capital’s Supreme Court.
