Punjab School Education Department has imposed a new dress code for teachers after a similar step in Sindh.
A review issued by the department says male teachers in government schools are prohibited from wearing jeans and t-shirts.
Female teachers and students are also asked not to get to school wearing excessive makeup, high heels or expensive jewelry. In addition, female teachers must carry Shalwar Kamez with Dupattas or Hijabs.
The new dressing code aims to ensure that teachers maintain attire that reflects professional and cultural values.
The department has emphasized that a strict action will be taken against teachers who do not comply with the guidelines. Private schools have also been instructed to enforce the clothing code among their staff.
The decision comes as part of the ongoing efforts to maintain discipline and respect for cultural norms in educational institutions.
