Jeremy Strong is a new member of the Cannes Film Festival Competition Jury. To choose a winner, the jury had to watch 21 movies in the pool.
He described his feelings about being part of such a group as an honor and said, “I feel immensely inspired by what I have seen here. It has been so refreshing, and this kind of cumulative numbers about the work I want to carry with me.”
The 46-year-old continued, “This has been a really wonderful experience, a truly connected experience with these people-it is like ‘Conclave’ with champagne. It’s really good.”
Juliette Binoche led the jury together with Succession Star, Halle Berry, Payal Kapadia, Hong Sansoo, Alba Rohrwacher, Leïla Slimani, Dieudo Hamadi and Carlos Reygadas were part of it.
Meanwhile, the jury Palme d’Or assigned to Jafar Panahi’s, it was just an accident. The group’s president explained the decision at the press conference, “It is very human and political at the same time because he comes from a complicated country, politically.”
She continued, “When we watched the movie, it really stood out. The movie pops out of a sense of resistance, survival that is absolutely necessary today. So we thought it was important to give this movie The Paramount Award.”
“Art will always win. What man will always win. Our creative urge can transform the world,” concluded Juliette.
