- A new HBO’s original movie is coming to Max “In Spring”
- The Untitled -Project is Jesse Armstrong’s instructor debut
- It is expected to be the long-awaited follow-up of the Hit-Show Succession
Jesse Armstrong – the creator of SuccessionOne of the best HBO MAX-Shows Ser out to make an director debut sometime in the next three months with a new movie that sounds like it could be the highly expected follow-up that fans of the hit series have been waiting for.
While no title has yet been revealed – HBO has gone so far to cover the project name in a picture that it released next to the message (see above) – we know that the movie will play Steve Carrell and Jason Schwartzman, and the short synopsis sounds reminiscent of Succession, With its focus on the rich and powerful.
It reads: “A group of billionaire friends meet on the basis of a rolling international crisis.” What the crisis is and how these captured friends are connected are not yet clear, but given that Armstrong is behind the project, many expect another hit satirical comedy drama.
In a comment on the new Max movie, Armstrong said he was “fascinated by finding out if it was so many brilliant actors and directors Succession have in any way rubbed on me. Let’s hope it “I certainly hope too, and I feel sure to predict that he brings his significant creative talents to this next project.
Actually with a high -profile role crew including comic actor Carrell (The office; The big short), Wes Anderson Alumni Schwartzman (Rushmore; Darjeeling Limited), Cory Michael Smith (May December; Carol) and Ramy Youssef (Bad things; Mo), there is certain enough star power on board to justify high expectations.
What do we know so far about Jesse Armstrong’s new HBO movie?
Not much. Apart from the plot, role crews and release window, HBO holds details of the project largely under packaging. But we should start to hear more soon, given that it is due to debut for the next three months.
It is surprising that HBO has said that the new movie will be released “in the spring”, because in the same breath it also says that production will only begin this month in Park City, Utah. Such a tight turn sounds very ambitious, so we will have to see what updates we will get in the coming months.
A report from the Hollywood reporter in January said the production was quickly tracked to start “later in the year,” but it seems that the schedule has been accelerated even more in the latest message, which makes me think HBO is particularly eager to get the film in front of the audience.
I’m not entirely surprised at that. After all, Armstrong is behind some of my favorite -tv shows, with writing credits for comic classics like Peep Show and Fresh meat as well as satirical sensations such as Four Lions, Veep and Black mirror.
What is even more exciting is that the project will be Armstrong’s for the first time to direct a movie length movie, and given his impressive track Record, I expect many to be happy to see what he’s waiting for us.
While we wait for this potential HBO -Hit to arrive, why not look at everything new at Max in March in the US to get details about all the new releases, or check the horror of horror of Lucy Buglass’ top six new Max films and shows that she is most excited to see this month.
