Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced a nationwide shutter down strike on April 22 to express solidarity with the population of Gaza in the middle of Israel’s ongoing offensive, Express News reported.

The message was made by JI leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while approaching a large collection under “Palestine March” held in Karachi on Sunday.

“We will observe a complete shutdown across the country on April 22 in solidarity with Gaza. The Palestinian leadership has approved this action,” Rehman said. “We will also coordinate with other Islamic organizations in the Muslim world for a collective reaction the same day,” he added.

He urged the public to continue the campaign to boycott international products and support the Palestinian case through sustained actions.

Remman, who outlined the party’s next step, said a special children’s parch is being held, followed by a Gaza march in Multan on April 18, and another in Islamabad on April 20. “The Islamabad event will be the largest public collection in the country’s history,” he claimed.

He also said that letters are sent to the leaders of Islamic states and human rights organizations and appealed for support and decisive acts against US policies that support Israel. “Karachi will lead this movement towards the slaves in America. We will succeed in this fight,” he added.
