Jimmy Kimmel turned his late night scene into a roast afterwards Time Magazine unveiled its 2025 ‘Person of the Year’ cover, which honored a group it called the Architects of AI.
On a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 58-year-old host showed off the cover to his audience as its cover featured eight big names from the tech world, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Sam Altman.
As soon as the picture appeared to the people, the crowd booed loudly. However, Kimmel joked about the choice, calling the group “the eight fools of the apocalypse.”
He said he was surprised by the negative reaction and also teased the title they were given.
“They call them architects,” he said, asking if the people behind the AI really understood what they were building.
The comedy icon also spoke about the fears people usually face around artificial intelligence, especially worrying that it could replace human jobs.
Kimmel went on to point out that it felt odd to celebrate the very people responsible for technology that might be pushing many workers aside.
The TV producer then mocked the design of the cover itself, noting that even with all the power of AI, the artwork looked very old-fashioned, reminding him of early photo-editing tools.
Furthermore, the segment also brought up the hosts’ long-running feud with tech icon Elon Musk, as he repeated an insult Musk once hurled at him online.
