John Cominsky, an NFL Defensive Lineman who played for Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions, announced his retirement from the league only 29.
Cominsky published the message in a post on social media.

“After 6 years in the NFL, I officially go back medically,” he wrote in a statement sent to his Instagram. “I am proud of the career I had, but have compiled a combination of injuries that overwhelm my desire to continue playing.
“Thanks to Atlanta Falcons for believing in me and preparing a under the Radar DII views. Thanks to the Detroit Lions for taking me from exceptions and giving me another contract and let me show what I can do as a NFL starter. Thanks to the front office QBS?”
Cominsky added that he “learned a lot” from playing football and was grateful to get the chance to share the field with players, he admired as a young athlete and shake hands with the Hall of Famers.

“Best of all, my marriage was strengthened and I had my two beautiful children,” he added. “Each one comes at perfect times in my career and strengthens me to the finish line. I go away with my family in mind and have therefore found peace in this difficult decision.

Falcons chose Cominsky in the fourth round of the NFL draft in 2019 out of the University of Charleston in West Virginia.
He played in 27 games for Falcons before performing in 30 with Lions in 2022 and 2023. He suffered a torn MCL in the summer before the 2024 season and missed the whole season.

He recorded 107 tackles and 7.5 sacks in five seasons.
