John Legend recently discussed his former mentor Kanye West.

Recently John had a confessional with The timesWhere he remembered how Kanye West was before they fell out.

He began by saying, “Back then, Kanye was very passionate, very gifted, and he had big dreams not only for himself, but also for all people around him.”

“He had so much optimism, so much creativity. It feels sad, sometimes shocking, to see where he is now,” the singer added.

In addition, John Legend approached that his ex-friend’s anti-Semitic remarks and anti-black comments could be a result of his deteriorating mental state.

“I did not see a hint of what we see now, his occupations with anti-Semitism, anti-blackness, and it is sad to see his devolution,” he also expressed.

Finally, John Legend admitted that he witnessed “definitely a difference” in the rapper’s mental state after the death of his mother Donda West in 2007.

“I don’t think we’re qualified to psychoanalyze him, but after his mother went in 2007 there was definitely a difference,” he claimed, noticing as a conclusion, “his descent started back then and seems to have been accelerated recently.”
