Johnny Manziel was once in the Shedeur Sanders’ shoes – a Cleveland Brown’s quarterback with high expectations and a national light.

Manziel was a Brown’s first round election in 2014 with the whole city of Cleveland in the hope of “Johnny Football” could jump life into a franchise desperate after consistency in the quarterback position.

NFL fans know how it eventually played out for Browns and Manziel, but the winner of Heisman Trophy in 2012 has plenty of optimism for Sanders, a fifth round as he embarks on his first season in the league.

“I think everything he has done since he has come to Cleveland has been exactly what to do,” Manziel told Pakinomist Digital about Sanders, while also discussing his partnership with Sling TV.

“Obviously a crowded quarterback room. I think that many people, at least to me, enjoyed watching shedur playing in college. I also liked to see [Browns third-round pick] Dillon Gabriel plays in college. I think the guy has a lot of talent, a big arm. So i think about [Sanders]Continue to review this trial season. Try to get better week in and week and if they name you the starter, great. If you are [No.] 2, great. If you are [No.] 3, no matter what. Sit there and continue to grind, learn the offense and keep trying to become more comfortable and good things will happen. “

While Manziel and others before the start of the training camp have said that Sanders could win the job, Joe Flacco, the long -standing veteran -quarterback, will begin the season as Browns’ starts under the center.

But all the speech about Browns after their first trial match last week was about Sanders when he was appointed the starter by head coach Kevin Stefanski and played well in the third quarter.

Sanders went 14-for-23 passing in 138 yards and two touchdowns and flashing his signature Touchdown party along the way to a 30-10 win against Carolina Panthers.

It is a performance like this that has Manziel, reminiscent of the NFL draft back in April, and how Sanders fell into day 3 and the fifth round before Cleveland scooped him up.

“I didn’t think there was any way he was coming that day 2. You just sit there and this guy is billed like someone being taken in the first round and that and that. Would like to see but you get in a position that needs a quarterback, right?

Manziel added how he thinks it’s fun to see fans fighting over reports from Cleveland media about which quarterback threw the most touchdowns or had the best day on the practice field.

“In the big schedule with things, it’s all bulls — until you get to the right game and real bullets fly,” Manziel said. “I’ve had a good laugh where you see the practice statistics showing up.”

But once again, Manziel knows how much the media can play a role in the perception of a player and a team. While many people think of New York, Los Angeles or Boston Media when it comes to sports, Manziel explained why he thinks Cleveland is also a tough place to impress.

“I think people who have covered this team this year and years and years have treated the heights of having high expectations of going into a season and seeing them crumble,” he said. “There has not been the success there as they want, so of course it has been extremely frustrating. Of course, it’s a hard media place to be in when you don’t win games when you feel like being, especially when you have good pieces on the team.

“The one thing I know about [Sanders]And Deion, who knew him over the years, he will be prepared for it. He wants the right answers to that. He will be able to weather the storm. It’s one of the things where you go out and have a nine, 10-, 11-win season, these questions will start to feel more warm and unclear with certainty. ”

Sanders probably won’t follow up on its first taste of the NFL with any great performance after suffering an oblique injury to Brown’s practice this week. Cleveland takes on Philadelphia Eagles for their second preseason game on Saturday night.

Another way of watching football

Manziel collaborated with Sling TV, a subsidiary of Dish Network Corporation, to promote another way of watching football this season – one that really takes into account the consumer.

Sling TV offers three new streaming subscription packages: Day Pass for immediate 24-hour access, Weekend Pass, giving Friday-through-Sunday access and week’s pass for a full seven-day access to access.

When it comes to football, especially at university level, not all fans will pay a prize for games they won’t look at. Manziel loves that he can choose and choose the right streaming subscription with Sling TV to satisfy his monitoring needs.

“I’ll get these messages on my phone that say, ‘You’re being charged x amount for this or that.’ I’m like ‘man, I’m just trying to see Ball.’ To have something starts at $ 4.99 and you choose which one you want – you want a day, a week, a weekend.
