Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel doesn’t want “nothing but the best” for Arch Manning as Manning embarks on his first season as a full-time starter with Texas Longhorns.
But Manziel’s own college -football -faithfulness has him to hope that Manning has his worst game of the year during the rivalry week in college football.
Manziel’s Texas A&M Agggies has priority over any Longhorns player.

“Whenever [Texas] Plays Texas A&M, I hope he throws five choices and no touchdowns and gives us an opportunity to win the ball game we need to win, “Manziel told Pakinomist Digital while discussing his partnership with Sling TV.
“The Lone Star Showdown” is the moniker of Texas-Texas A&M Week, often played during rivalry week. This year, the game will be played on November 28, the latest game in the regular season for Agggies and Longhorns.
So Manziel will have other weeks before this matchup to see what Longhorns and Manning do while rooting at his Agggies.
Archie Manning says that grandson Arch ‘doesn’t go’ to declare 2026 nfl Draft
Manning’s expectations that Longhorns’ starter is through the roof of Quinn Ewers, moving on to the NFL. Texas is at the top of the Associated Press’ Top 25 Preseason Poll, and many choose them to win this year’s College Football Playoff.
Manziel won’t go that far, but he’s excited to see what Manning can do with the limelight on him in Austin.
“Texas begins very highly ranked,” Manziel said. “A lot of hype around them and there is a lot of pressure in that situation. But from what he has shown so far, you would think he would be able to deal with it and he will play well. Sec, week out and week out, we will find out what he has made of.
“For me, from my perspective, I do not want him anything other than the best. Seems like an amazing child, has an amazing family. I want him to do amazing things outside one day.”
Manziel got to know the Manning family after winning the coveted “Manning Award” for the best college-football quarterback during his Heisman-winning campaign in 2012 at A&M.

Arch has a strong support system with its uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning; His father, Cooper Manning; And his grandfather, New Orleans Saints Legend Archie Manning. But Manziel is curious, like the rest of the country, to see how Arch does when he is between the lines facing the reigning national champion Ohio State Buckeyes to start his campaign in 2025.
“When you’re ranked so loud that goes into the season and you have the hype and the name and everything that comes with it, you get everyone’s best shot week in and week out,” Manziel said. “Right out of the gate for them in their schedule, they get a real test that plays a real team out of the gate.
“So you get everyone’s best shot. People are coming after you and there will be defense you haven’t seen before you don’t look before. They will really shoot to you.”
Arch Manning receives comparison with the legendary Texas Quarterback
Manziel knows the expectations of leading a highly developed SEC school.
“The most important thing he has to do is just continue to be a good leader, continue to run the offense that he has learned as he needs, and just keep things in a good perspective that not everything will go smoothly every single drive, every single week,” Manziel said of Manning.
“You will deal with some adversity. You want some ballgames that are three-point games where you have to try to keep people out and hopefully they go your way.
“The best he can do is to show up, be the guy, be the leader and go out and play his best football week out and week out.”

Another way of watching football
Manziel collaborated with Sling TV, a subsidiary of Dish Network Corporation, to promote another way of watching football this season, one that takes the consumer into consideration.
Sling TV offers three new streaming subscription packages: Day Pass, Weekend Passport and Week Pass, all of which give 24-hour access to the platform.
When it comes to football, especially at university level, not all fans will pay a prize for games they won’t look at. Manziel loves that he can choose and choose the right streaming subscription with Sling TV.
“I’ll get these messages on my phone that say, ‘You’re being charged x amount for this or that.’ I’m like ‘man, I’m just trying to see Ball.’ To have something starts at $ 4.99 and you choose which one you want – you want a day, a week, a weekend.
