Kansas City Chief’s wide receiver Rashee Rice learned his punishment for his role in a vehicle accident in the Dallas area last year.
ESPN reported on Thursday that a judge in Dallas County sentenced rice for probation and a month long stint in prison. The probationary period is expected to last five years, according to the report.
Royce West, Rice’s lawyer, told Fox 4 Dallas Rice a guilty plea for crime on the highway and a crime of an accident causing bodily harm.

The accident happened in March 2024. According to several reports, a vehicle traveled approx. 119 km / h when it collided with another car that also drove across the speed limit.
Rice had already paid about $ 115,000 in refund to cover the victims’ medical expenses, Fox 4 Dallas reported.

The league has been waiting for the legal process to reach its conclusion before taking disciplinary action against rice. The judge’s decision could move the NFL’s disciplinary process forward. If Rice is suspended, he would probably miss out on games during the 2025 season, ESPN reported.

Rice was also awarded a postponed judgment that paved the way for a dismissal of the case at the successful end of his probation.
Rice released a statement shortly after the accident said he was cooperating with the authorities.
“Today I met with Dalla’s PD investigators regarding Saturday’s accident,” Rice said in a statement in April 2024. “I take full responsibility for my part in this case and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize for everyone who is affected in Saturday’s accident.”

KDFW later reported that a lawyer representing the classic lifestyle confirmed Rice rented Lamborghini SUV from the company. According to the classic lifestyle policy, Rice was the vehicle’s only authorized driver during the rent.
The Dallas police also told Pakinomist digital residents of both Corvette and Lamborghini fled and failed to exchange information. They also did not check to see if anyone was injured or needed help.
Rice missed the last 13 games of the 2024 season due to a knee injury. The recipient reviewed posterolateral corner surgery in October.
