Islamabad:
Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja on Wednesday said the recent letters from two Islamabad High Court (IHC) had “postponed the judiciary” when he criticized government leaders for conducting foreign trips while the country struggling with floods.
A day earlier, IHCS Justice Babar Sattar and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan traveled serious questions about the lack of transparency in High Court and wrote separate letters to Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar.
Raja, who spoke of a news conference with PTI and opposition allian leaders in the federal capital, said that letters written by the two IHC judges had “determined the reality of the justice system.” He added that the country was facing devastating floods, while government leaders were engaged in foreign trips.
Raja condemned the attack on Akhtar Mengal’s rally and called it a terrorist act that “no patriot can remain silent.”
At least 17 people lost their lives, and more than 30 were injured in a powerful explosion near a GDP rally in Quetta on Tuesday.
Raja questioned fate for funds pledged after the Geneva Conference in 2022, claiming that corruption and negligence had worsened the flood situation. “Exports have fallen, imports have risen, and the economic crisis has fully revealed the shame system installed after February 8,” he noted.
Majlis Wahdat-E-Muslime leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said Pakistan was dismantled in 1971 and warned that society without justice collapse. “Before these floods faced a river of constitutional violations. If we want unity, we must accept the supremacy of the law,” he said, warning that peaceful political struggle was labeled as terrorism to stifle the dissent.
Former National Assembly Chairman Asad Qaiser also condemned the attack on Mengal’s rally and highlighted the destruction in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, where 13 members of a single family were killed in Bannu.
He called on the federal government to cooperate with provinces to build small dams, complete delayed projects such as billions of tree initiative and secure constitutional supremacy. “Mian Sajib used to say ‘respect the vote’, but when you lost the mandate on February 8, you should have withdrawn,” he added.
Former Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair claimed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had given a speech in China, saying there was “zero corruption” during his term of office.
“The auditor’s general report clearly shows that RS300 billion had been lost in the wheat scandal, while owners of the Sugar Factory, which are part of the government, received 300 billion Rs.”
When he spoke to the apartment, former Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said everyone was aware of the “limited space for freedom of speech”.
“Prominent media anchors had been taken off the air. A few days ago a journalist was picked up from his residence. When [I] Then the tweet [he had] Submitted nothing critical, “Khokhar said.
“[When] The Supreme Court and the right judge themselves declare that the judiciary is not independent, ‘where should we turn?’, He asked.
Khokhar said the IHC judges’ letters had made “everything clear, leaving people who wonder which one dies to knock on for justice.”
He advertised plans to publish a White Paper covering the legal history of former Chief Justices Iftikhar Chaudhry to Qazi Faez Isa.
