Peshawar:
A tribe Jirga arranged by the Jamat Disadvanta-e-Islam-Fazl (Jui-F) has expressed serious reservations over a committee,
Jirga, held in Peshawar on Sunday, also stated that a decision made with regard to the merged districts without proper public representation and consultation would be unacceptable.
Jirga led by Jui-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman collected the oldest and leaders of the merged districts in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Senior leaders such as Maulana Jamaluddin, Maulana Abdul Rasheed, Malik Nasrullah Khan, Malik Shaheen, Malik Khan Marjan, Mufti Baitullah, Malik Nadir Manan, Abdul Khaliq Pathan, Mna Mufti Misbahuddin, Malik Shire, and Dr Gg Jamal Treated Included Key -recommendations.
In a statement from Jui-F, Jirga expressed concern about the rising incidents of terrorism and targeted killings in the former tribal districts and demanded urgent and effective measures to ensure peace and protect life and property in the region.
Jirga also rejected the newly proposed mines and minerals, which denotes it against the tribe’s population and the country’s interests. It emphasized the need to engage tribal leaders and Pashtun representatives to devise a comprehensive and inclusive strategy for the region’s future.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has set up a special committee for the merged districts that initiated considerations on the 1st of July on the resuscitation of the traditional Jirga system in previous FATA. These districts, formerly called agencies, were merged with KP in early 2018 through the 25th constitutional amendment.
During the meeting on July 1, the Minister of States and Border Areas, Amir Muqam emphasized, as the chairman of the committee emphasized the need for an alternative justice system that is rooted in tribal duty but adapted to constitutional principles.
The committee also decided to form a subcommittee to prepare recommendations and agree to hold its next session in KP’s capital, Peshawar. AP and PTI have already rejected the committee as they claim does not represent the population of the merged districts.
