North Waziristan:
A bomb explosion inside a mosque under Friday prayers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwas South Waziristan District injured Jamiat Disadvantaged Disbursement (Jui) District Manager Abdullah Nadeem and three others, police said.
According to police officer Asif Bahader, the improvised explosion device (IED) was planted on the pulpit of Maulana Abdul Aziz mosque on Azam Warsak Bypass Road and detonated at. 13.45.
“In the explosion, Abdullah Nadeem, the district manager of Jui, was seriously wounded,” he said. “Three others who also belong to Jui have caused minor damage.”
A police statement identified the wounded like Rehmanullah, Mullah Noor and Shah Behran. DPO Bahader confirmed that all wounded persons were moved to District Headquarters Hospital for immediate medical treatment.
“The police have also reached the site of the explosion and collecting evidence,” he added, noting that an investigation was underway.
According to District Police Speaker Habib Islam, no group has assumed responsibility for the attack so far.
“Maulana Abdullah had received death threats for a long time,” he revealed. “He was also attacked about seven or eight months ago.”
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack and called it a “Feig’s act of the enemy”.
“The holiness of the mosque was violated in the holy month of Ramazan,” he said. “The animals that performed this attack deserve no concessions.”
He also asked for the rapid improvement of Maulana Abdullah and the other wounded victims.
Meanwhile, Jui-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman strongly condemned the explosion at a mosque in southern Waziristan and condemned the attack as a serious violation of the holiness of both the holy month of Ramazan and the place of worship.
When he expressed his grief over the incident, the priest politician emphasized the need for the government and security institutions to take the nation in confidence in the worsening law and order situation, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
He complained that the escalating turmoil in these regions was repeatedly overlooked in both parliamentary houses despite its severity.
The Jui-F chief also asked for the rapid improvement of Maulana Abdullah Nadeem and other wounded victims of the attack.
