July looks 5% uptick in terrorist attack

Islamabad:

Last month, there was a slight increase in militant violence, after a brief fall in the previous month, the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) said in its monthly report published on Friday.

The report said 82 militant attacks were registered across the country in July, resulting in the death of 101 people and damage to 150 others.

Among them died in these attacks 47 were civilians, 36 security staff and 18 militants.

In contrast, the report said June saw 78 militant attacks, resulting in 100 fatalities and 189 injuries.

Julien’s number indicated an increase of 5% in the militant attacks compared to the previous month, the report added.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remained episent to such attacks that had brown of 53 assaults. It was followed by Balochistan with 28 attacks.

According to the report, no militant incidents were reported from Punjab, Sindh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) or Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

The report also highlighted intensified countermilitity operations of the security forces, resulting in the killing of 106 militants and arrest of 69 suspected operators in July. (With Input from News Desk)
