Balakot:
Kaghan -Valley is experiencing abnormal weather patterns these days probably due to the effects of climate change.
The region saw snow melt in the high mountains in April, as opposed to the previous year. At the end of May, Snowfall created a January-like atmosphere.
After more than three inches of snowfall in Babusar -Top and the surrounding valleys, temperatures have dropped, and heavy rain in lower areas has increased the flow of water in streams and rivers. This weather pattern is expected to continue for the next three days.
Heavy rain began in the Balakot area and the surrounding regions yesterday, which led to snowfall in the top areas of the Kaghan valley.
As a result, temperatures have cooled and can now feel more like January. With up to three inches of snow on Babusar -Top, a cold wave has returned to the valley and the snowfall continues at intervals. After the snow on Kaghan -Dalen’s mountains melted in April, there had been a noticeable increase in temperatures, but yesterday’s rain and snow changed the weather drastically.
The four seasons of the Kaghan -Valley – summer, winter, spring and fall – are aware of being affected, with changes in weather patterns that clearly reflect the effects of climate change.
If timely measures are not taken to tackle this problem, Kaghan Valley will not only be affected, but Pakistan could also lose his various seasons.
Local experts in Kaghan -Valley believe that several factors are contributing to the region’s climate change. Main reasons include unregulated construction and forest fires.
While fires in the forest forests increase temperatures, uncontrolled construction, especially the development of cement structures, also contributes to the rise in temperature.
If urgent actions are not taken to mitigate these changes, all Pakistan’s four natural seasons may be in danger.
