Karachi is raining all night

Karachi was lurked by heavy rainfall when the second wave of monsoon rains hit the city, where Surjani town received the highest rainfall of 129.8 mm over the last 24 hours.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Guldhan-e-Maymar (Jamia Rasheed) registered 93.1 mm, DHA Phase VII 90mm and North Karachi 72.2 mm.

Other areas also experienced significant showers, including Gullhan-E-Haded (69 mm), Nazimabad (54 mm), Korangi (55 mm), Orangi Town (47.2 mm), Saadi Town (55.1 mm), chemical Office University Road (45.4 mm), PAF Masroor Base in Karachi West (41 mm) and Bahria Town (45 mm).

All educational institutions (public and private) in the Karachi division’s jurisdiction will remain closed. A message in this regard has been issued by the Commissioner Karachi.

Due to heavy monsoon rains, the Thado dam is located in Gadap Town flooded. Floodwaters have submerged Super Highway (M-9 highway), which significantly affects the traffic flow. After reporting that a rickshaw and van were swept away by the strong current and water coming into homes, Rescue 1122 and Edhi Marine Services -Teams arrived immediately to the stage.

The Sindh government has decided to break a section of the central barrier on M-9 to give a passage for the water. This work is done based on the evolving situation. SIND Head Minister has instructed the M-9 to be cleared as soon as possible to restore the smooth flow of traffic.

Sindh -Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has issued instructions to closely monitor the water flow from the dam and to keep the public continuously informed to prevent further damage or disadvantages. On CM’s instructions, MNA Jam Karim and MPA Saleem Baloch were also present on site.

Floodwaters went into home in several areas, including Malir Khameso Jokhio Goth, Sohrab Goth, Machar Colony and New Karachis Khameso Goth. Residents were facing serious difficulties as the water flooded their homes. In some areas, people began trying to drain the water themselves and move to safer places.

According to a Rescue 1122 spokesman, their team on site discovered a stopped vehicle trapped in the stream. The car seemed to be empty, but the water flow was strong and the team tried to approach it. Residents reported that three women had disappeared in the flash floods and that seeking efforts were underway.

The Sindh Chief Minister’s spokesman stated that a shehzore truck was swept away in the flood water from the dam’s waste, but all four people inside were safely rescued under the supervision of DC Malir.

The overflow of the Thado Dam immersed the surrounding areas, streets and alleys of Gadap Town. Residents of scheme 33 and other nearby sites spent the night in fear due to the flood water. Late in the evening, areas such as Sohrab Goth, Machar Colony and Hasan Nauman Colony along with Khameso Goth in the new Karachi Industrial Area were flooded as local streams flooded, catching residents of their homes. Alternative routes

Power cuts

According to a spokesman for K-electric (KE), the monsoon rains in Karachi continued Tuesday to the third day in a row. K-electric spokesman Imran Rana appealed to citizens to comply with security measures during the rain. He advised to stay away from electric poles, meters, service fittings and broken or tangled Internet or cable lines. He also warned against using indoor wires or water pumps with wet hands or while standing in water. In the event of electrical errors at home, citizens are encouraged to seek help from certified electricians.

Rescue operation

Rescue operations continued all night to move rainy people to safe locations.

Rescue 1122 teams moved in coordination with district administration successfully over 350 citizens to safer areas through timely action.

In Saadi city, 10 individuals were caught in water rescued by Rescue 1122 in collaboration with the Pakistani Army, according to Rescue 1122 speaker. Deputy Commissioner East and Deputy Commissioner Malir monitored personal rescue efforts.

In District Keamari, rescue operations were also carried out with the help of the revenue and the police department. Under the leadership of assistant commissioner Keamari Madiha Narejo, 100 individuals were surely moved.

Two individuals were caught in a flood wave in the Lyari River near IMTIAZ super big in Gulhan-e-Iqbal. Upon receipt of the report, a rescue 1122 team immediately reached the location.

According to the spokesman, the Rescue Water team responded along with an ambulance and hiking vehicle quickly and launched a rescue operation. After considerable efforts, both individuals were safely rescued from the flood water and moved to a safe place.
