The first confirmed case of Monkeypox (MPOX) in SINDH is reported in Karachi, revealed health department sources on Saturday.

According to sources, a patient admitted to Jinnah Hospital was diagnosed with Monkeypox after his tests were sent to Dow Hospital for laboratory tests. The results confirmed the presence of the virus, which made it the first verified case in the province.

Health officials stated that the patient’s test results returned positive and added that his wife had a recent travel history abroad. She initially exhibited symptoms of Monkeypox before her husband got the infection.

The patient, a 28-year-old resident of Shah Latif Town, Karachi, has been placed in an isolation department, and strict precautions have been implemented to prevent further spread of the virus.

Authorities have called on the public to remain vigilant and comply with the health court lines to limit the transmission of Monkeypox in the region.
