Residents of Karachi faced serious difficulties during Sehri when unannounced power cuts disturbed daily routines, especially during the meal in Sehri-Test-dag.
The night of March 10, 2025, several areas suffered in Karachi, including Shah Faisal Colony Block 2, Green Town, Orangi Town and others, power cuts around 10 pm. 02:00, reported Express News.
Residents reported that despite several complaints to the authorities concerned, the reasons behind the power cut were not communicated.
In addition to preventing the preparation for Sehri, power cuts also affected water supply in several areas. With local pumping stations that lacked electricity, the water distribution stopped, which was further the subject of residents.
The situation led to concerns as the usual daily issues of power interruptions intensified in the holy month of Ramadan.
Residents of the affected areas expressed frustration, pointing out that such power cuts were frequent without any clear explanation from the relevant authorities.
“Every day there is some problem with electricity and it becomes unbearable, especially in Sehri hours where we need the power most,” said a local resident.
With Ramadan, citizens have called on the authorities to find an immediate solution to the recurring power cuts that have worsened the difficulties of observing fasting during the holy month.
The power cut has intensified the concerns of Karachi’s residents, especially given the crucial importance of the holy month and the extra challenges of fasting. People call for an urgent intervention to restore services and ensure even operation of daily activities under Ramadan.
